India navy setting up AI and ML lab for combat management system

New Delhi: The Indian Navy is planning to set up an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) lab for its Combat Management System (CMS) projects.

The Indian Navy has invited a limited tender for setting up of the AI and ML lab for the CMS projects including training of 15 personnel including officers and developers at the CMS Group.

The last date for responding to the tender (Request for Proposals in defence parlance) from the Weapons and Electronics Systems Engineering Establishment (WESEE) at the Ministry of Defence is Dec. 4.

The tender documents, reviewed by Defence.Capital, states that the lab infrastructure should comprise of at least six terminals along with supporting software.

The winning vendor would be expected to provide onsite training for four months to the CMS Group personnel for at least 3,600 man hours at the rate of 15 personnel for 15 hours a week for 16 weeks.

The lab should be designed and developed under a consultancy in one CMS software application. The vendor will also provide training material for the lab.
