New Delhi: The Indian Navy is planning to buy 50 Electronic Charts and Planning Systems (ECPS) for operational planning centres ashore and on board its warships.

The navy has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to the global vendors so as to prepare for a tender to buy these electronic charts and planning systems.

According to the RFI, reviewed by Defence.Capital, the new electronic charts and planning systems are to be used for operational planning purposes at the operational and planning centres and on board ships instead of paper charts.

The last date for the vendors to respond to the RFI is Dec. 17. The tender (Request for Proposals, in defence parlance), guided by the Defence Procurement Procedure 2016, is likely in the first half of 2020.

The navy is also looking for a possible technology transfer and the vendors are to indicate in their response to the RFI the scope, depth and range of the technology transfer for manufacturing, operating, maintaining and training.
