New Delhi: India has amended draft procedures for defence acquisitions and has now sought remarks from stakeholders by Aug. 10 for a final round of discussions before the document is finalised.

The second draft of the Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) 2020, now titled ‘Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) 2020‘ was made public on the website of the Ministry of Defence today.

The first draft of DPP-2020 was web hosted, and comments, recommendations and suggestions were solicited from various stakeholders by Apr. 17. But, the deadline was revised to May 8, and since then, over 10,000 pages of comments from stakeholders had been received, the ministry said in a statement today.

After an analysis of these comments received from various agencies, specific interactions were also carried out with the entire spectrum of stakeholders, both in person and through web conferences in order to understand the precise concerns.

“The amended second draft has since been finalised by the review committee, driven by tenets of defence reforms announced as part of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan‘, and has been placed in the public domain.”
