Leh: In a signal to an aggressive China, India today said it has recruited 99 young youth from the Ladakh region as soldiers into its army.
India has been fighting a menacing China in a military conflict in the Ladakh region since May 2021 and the Indian Army soldiers from Ladakh region have fought the Chinese People’s Liberation Army troopers bravely since then, even absorbing casualties in their display of valour.
The Indian Army carried out an Attestation Parade at The Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre in Leh today to mark the entry of 99 recruits into the Ladakh Scouts Regiment as young soldiers.
“It was a proud moment for parents of these young soldiers, who witnessed the Passing Out Parade of their brave sons, which could not be done since Mar. 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic,” an Indian Army statement said.
“The attestation parade was conducted with all COVID protocols in the true traditions of the Indian Army. The parade was reviewed by Colonel Rinchen Dorje, Commandant of the Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre,” it said.
The new recruits come from all regions of Union Territory of Ladakh.
